I'm sorry things didn't work with Target. But as you said, at least you got a response. And who know, they might have something for you in the future. When I was younger, I used to go to all the shops in the mall and surrounding area and ask people directly if they had any positions open. I eventually found something that way.
It's good you're out of that toxic relationship but also understandable that you're feeling sad about it. It's okay to grieve about what was lost.
